- Guest - 07-08-2024 Basically, you go to <a href='https://tvtropes.org/' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>TV TROPES</a> and pick however many tropes you like (I'm doing 5 each, with some combined into one) that apply to your character, with a justification if you want.<br><br><u><b>CATSEYE</b></u><br>(1)<a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BadassAdorable' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Badass Adorable</a> + <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BewareTheSillyOnes' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Beware the Silly Ones</a> + <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CuteBruiser' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Cute Bruiser</a> - Catseye is a pretty darn adorable character, her feline antics and sing-song speech are silly and endearing, and the fact her feline forms are <i>pastel </i><b>purple </b>probably makes her seem less serious and less scary. . .but the fact is she still turns into a massive predator with talons, teeth, and a willlingness to use them that is uncomplicated by human morals.<br><br>(2) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HulkSpeak' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Hulk Speak</a> - She has a distinct way of speaking with a sort of broken, sing-song syntax where she makes up her own words and refers to herself in the third person. This is not due to lacking intelligence---in fact, the reason she can speak at all is because she IS so intelligent---but her feral upbringing. <br><br>(3) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OtherworldlyTechnicolourHair' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Otherworldly Technicolor Hair</a> - In her case, she's got pale purple hair and is "not quite human" in the sense she's a human mutant who can shapeshift into a variety of feline-based forms (also all purple) <br><br>(4) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CatGirl' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Cat Girl</a> + <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/UnusualEars' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Unusual Ears</a> + <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OurWerebeastsAreDifferent' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Our Werebeasts Are Different</a> + <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PantheraAwesome' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Panthera Awesome</a> - Catseye is a polymorph whose forms range from completely human but with pointy ears, a near-human catgirl with the ears and tail, to a full-on hybrid werecat and giant panther.<br><br>(5) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/InnocentlyInsensitive' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Innocently Insensitive</a> - A common occurence due to her ignorance of human social norms and cultural taboos.<br><br><u><b>DARKSTAR</b></u><br><br>(1) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DarkIsNotEvil' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Dark Is Not Evil</a> + <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BadPowersGoodPeople' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Bad Powers, Good People</a> - Her abilities draw on <i>dark </i>energy from a <i>dark </i>dimension of <i>darkness </i>that is not just DARK but also physically cold, energy-sapping, and mentally-unsettling at the LEAST to those who are exposed to it. However, Darkstar herself is very much a good person, generally quite nice, typically level-headed and merciful, and an all-around white hat type.<br><br>(2) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HairOfGoldHeartOfGold' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold</a> - She has the aforementioned personality in combination with long blonde hair<br><br>(3) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ChummyCommies' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Chummy Commies</a> - Despite the fact that she debuted as part of a Soviet team sent to capture Black Widow and return her to the motherland, Darkstar is portrayed from the start as a kind, moral person. This remains consistent regardless of which side she's currently on, and The Winter Guard/Soviet Super Soldiers more than once teamed up with America heroes against greater threats. Darkstar in particuliar is shown to regard said other heroes as friends even when they're not on the same side.<br><br>(4) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BadassFamily' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Badass Family</a> - Her twin brother Nikolai aka Vanguard is a mutant as well, and went through the same training regime as her, and they're often a <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BrotherSisterTeam' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Brother-Sister Team</a> in combination with Ursa Major or a larger squad. Her long-lost father has powers as well, though not by birth; he gained them via radiation (at the unfortunate cost of his sanity)<br><br>(5) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LongLostRelative' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Long-Lost Relative</a> - See the long-lost (evil) father; given that he winds up her <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/IncestantAdmirer' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Incest-ant Admirer</a> it probably would have been better if they'd never found each other. Her brother Nikolai is also something of an odd version; they were raised together along with Ursa Major, but they were never told they were siblings, and Laynia was given a different last name. Presumably, this was to ensure that family ties wouldn't supersede their loyalty to the State. <br><br><b>SEBASTIAN SHAW</b><br><br>(1) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AmbitionIsEvil' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Ambition is Evil</a> + <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Determinator' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>The Determinator</a>: Shaw was born in extreme poverty, but his boundless ambition and belief in himself fueled his hard work, determination, and innovation. This allowed him to go from <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RagsToRiches' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Rags to Riches</a> and become a <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SelfMadeMan' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Self Made Man</a> of which he is very justfiably proud. Unfortunately, he's also a <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CorruptCorporateExecutive' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Corrupt Corporate Executive</a> who has forsaken his morals and humanity in order to gain more and more, to go further and further. Even though he's a billionaire and has accomplished more than he could ever need, the guy just can't stop. He always has to do more, be more, achieve more, have more, and it's what pushes him into villainy. <br><br>(2) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GeniusBruiser' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Genius Bruiser</a> + <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CulturedBadass' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Cultured Badass</a> - Shaw's powerset makes him a bruiser by design, which is augmented by his natural size and fitness regime. However, he's also a talented engineer and a business savant. In my depiction, he's also used the free time his wealth affords him to cultivate a refined palate for food, spirits, and fragrances, as well as a knowledge of history, literature, and higher culture not just as defined by the Western world but around the globe. He's a man who always seeks self-improvement, so I figure that fits for him, and it likewise fits his self-image as a gentleman. He also, when he chooses to <i>use </i>them, has an impeccable set of manners. Given that he's evil, this makes him <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ManOfWealthAndTaste' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>A Man of Wealth & Taste</a> who is <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WickedCultured' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Wicked Cultured</a>.<br><br>(3) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Workaholic' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Workaholic</a> - He's spent most of his life this way, which in part accounts for his success. He's learned to take some free time to himself in the present, but he still qualifies since, given his wealth, he doesn't even <i>need </i>to work at all to support himself but still chooses to do so. <br><br>(4) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/VillainousWidowsPeak' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>Villainous Widow's Peak</a> - Less so at Damascus Road where he's played by the curly-topped-and-tousled Javier Bardem, but he sports quite a high one in the comics. <br><br>(5) <a href='https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheLostLenore' rel='nofollow noopener' target='_blank'>The Lost Lenore</a> - His late fiancee Lourdes meets all the criteria. I fuckin refuse to acknowledge Duggan's idiotic "oh actually she's alive and he was abusing her and---" bulltshit retcon, the fuck outta here with that shit. |
